
ABOUT BRETT
Brett Hanavan is a filmmaker, producer, writer, photographer and entrepreneur. He has a background in public relations, advertising, marketing, broadcasting, and a personal interest in music and sports. He works from his office/studio.
He has worked in youth sports throughout his career including softball and girl’s basketball. Hanavan was the Vice President & Director of Communications for San Diego’s Academy Travel Softball Club, a multi-team 501-C non-profit organization that focused on competition, community service and philanthropy.
Currently, Hanavan owns & operates SoCal Sports Video (Oct. 2012) that produces student-athlete video for kids seeking a scholarship in their sport in college. It is based in San Diego County and video production resides on the SoCal Sports Video You Tube channel.
Most recent, Hanavan is a partner in the new 1139 Productions that focuses on television show development and production. Along with partners P.J. Bennett and Tom Bennett, Hanavan is working to establish a dynamic, exciting new “reality-based” TV show. “It is unique and its gonna’ fly,” Hanavan said. “ There is no down side to it.”
Hanavan worked with P.J. Bennett doing promotional work at the University of Tulsa in the 1980s.
He was co-producer/co-director of independent films Death of a Healer (2005) and Clean Up, Aisle 3 (2004). He co-wrote Clean Up Aisle 3 with business partner Tom Bennett. Hanavan and Bennett operated ForeSolutions (& 80,0002B Productions), St. Louis-based communication and production companies. Clean Up Aisle 3 appeared in the 2003 Wilmington International Film Festival.
Hanavan is a partner with Kevin Brennan in PD Productions that formed in 1999 while photographing together on the back roads in Northeast Ohio. PD Productions' focus is preserving photographs of abandoned and left behind homes, homesteads, buildings, along with weather, landscapes and 'cityscapes' around North America.
As a writer, Hanavan has made journalistic contributions to several newspaper, magazine and Internet publications. He has covered the San Diego Chargers, Padres and Sockers as well as business, education, medical research, science, industry-specific topics and has written features. He began in the creative world in November 1998 when he joined San Diego-based Insurance Journal as a staff reporter and then became a senior writer.
Hanavan has developed other multi-media projects including a children's television show pilot called On the Shanna Show. He co-produced a creatively informational art show called The Exposed Artist with co-partner Shanna Stanton through their San Diego-based production company Abstract Productions:

Hanavan also continues to work on screenwriting, film and other video projects. He is also a poet and freespirit.
Hanavan has a B.S. degree in Communication from the University of Tulsa and a minor in Marketing. He attended Southwestern Community College & Hilltop High School, in Chula Vista, California.
Brett was born and raised in Southern California. He has been married 30 years to Sherrianne. They have an adult daughter Brooke and chihuahua named Tilly.
